Dimitri de Perrot
with Julian Sartorius
Imagine that you go to a concert and there is nothing to see on stage – yet. You don’t hear anything, either, even though the performance has already begun. A performance that, for the time being, consists of merely a backdrop of sound, that plays with the empty space, with the pause before the onset, the tension before the explosion. And with you. You are the primary ingredient of the evening. You generate the sound, acting as the instrument and soundbox. You are at once Performer and part of the audience. And suddenly your seat will vibrate, you begin to sway and pulsate in close dialogue with everything that surrounds you.>> more
You can see tones, your thoughts become sounds, you become one with everything and are a part of what is happening. In MYOUSIC sound artist and director Dimitri de Perrot sends drumer Julian Sartorius on stage. MYOUSIC plays with expectations, reactions and traditions; its sound and groove go above and beyond the room, out into the foyer, the city and the world.
MYOUSIC is the first solo programme by the artist Dimitri de Perrot. He is trying to find answers to questions such as: Where does music have its origines – on stage or in perception? He creates a extraordinary ambiance on stage – without any actors – only by letting enter into the dialogue a drummer and a sound installation. They tell the story of the performance of a piece, a concert. The audience, the hall and the music are the main actors of the evening.
Imagine that you look inwardly to become a concert.
Imagine that you are the music.
